In 1986
after researching dog breeds at a local library I purchased
my first Brittany
out of the San Jose Mercury News in Central California.
His sire was a field champion which didn't mean much
to me at the time -- all I wanted was a pet! That little liver/white puppy named
"Toby" forever changed my life.
"Toby"
and I started our long journey together by attending a local "puppy kindergarten." Twelve years later DC Shiloh's Earl of Cadbury CDX (aka "Toby")
retired
after a long and very successful career. Together we traveled the long
road to the completion of his dual championship with the guidance and training
of Jim Berneathy Sr. of High Desert Kennels.
It was also during that time
"Toby" was one of the top winning field dogs on the West Coast. We
learned so much together and he forever set the standard of what a top quality
birddog should be.
Over
the past 24 years Shiloh Brittanys has only selectively bred 14 litters
choosing quality over quantity. My reward in only breeding the highest quality
of animals have I been fortunate enough to have bred or owned 6 Dual Champions,
13 Field Champions, 5 Amateur Field Champions, one Master Hunter, one Senior
Hunter, 8 Junior Hunters and 23 Show Champions with many more hunting companions
and family pets.
I have been a member of the American Brittany Club for over 20 years and
strictly adhere to their breeding "Code
of Ethics." All breeding stock is certified to be free of hip dysplasia by the Orthopedic Foundation
for Animals.
Puppies are hand raised in the home
and well socialized. They are temperament tested at 7 weeks of age so that the
correct puppy is placed with their new family. They are also independently
evaluated for their conformation to the
American Brittany Club
Standard. All have tested and true to their
breeding and have strong pointing instinct with head high, tail high and a
natural desire to retrieve.
